Dr Faisal Mushtaq

University Academic Fellow in Health Engineering. Faisal’s expertise lie in combining principles from cognitive science and state-of-art surgical technologies to improve intraoperative performance in a variety of disciplines including; Laparoscopic, Robotic, Ophthalmic and Dental Surgery. His laboratory-based work involves using electroencephalogram and kinematic recordings to delineate sub-optimal cognitive and motor decision-making. He currently co-ordinates the Cognitive Research Informed Surgical Techniques at Leeds Group (www.leeds.ac.uk/paclab/CRISTAL). His research has been supported by the Wellcome Trust, British Psychological Society, Leeds NHS Teaching Hospitals Trust and the Nuffield Foundation.
