Speaker 1: Dr Ben Chong (School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, University of Leeds)

Title: Any opportunity is an opportunity
Many of us have life stories to tell. I have my own too. From my University days up until now, I can say there have been successes and failures, joy and sadness, satisfaction and disappointment. All these are opportunities – some I worked hard for, some unexpected, some I missed and some not meant for me. Underlying all that, there are lessons that I learnt, the people I meet and work with, and changes in the environment. In this talk, I would like to share my reflection on my life experience as an academic that shapes who I am today.

Speaker 2: Yael May (STORM Lab, University of Leeds)

Bio: Yael earned degrees in Computer Science with AI (2022) and Mechatronics and Robotics (2023) at Leeds, and worked across multiple industries before finding her passion in healthcare technology and prosthetics, where she experienced both its joys and limitations. Her talk is about sharing these observations and how to spotlight healthcare's realities when designing.

Speaker 3: Dr Luke Tinsley (Department of Science and Engineering, Manchester Metropolitan University)

Bio: Luke Tinsley is a lecturer in manufacturing processes at Manchester Metropolitan University. He is the top goal scorer in the Leeds 5-a-side PGR invitational league. His research focuses on addressing the shortcoming of current manufacturing approaches in soft functional devices, with particular attention on enabling new devices, improving sustainability, and democratising manufacturing. Here he will present recent progress towards this aim.
