Abstract
Robotic-assisted surgery offers mechanical effector control over traditional "hand held" laparoscopy. How does this translate into clinical benefits, and is it worth the cost over laparoscopy and open surgery? The engineering principles driving robotic surgical system adoption should be explored and refined continuously. This presentation is framed by frontline clinical and global healthcare experience, from a Guy’s Hospital Consultant Surgeon.
