International Robotics Showcase

The Robotics at Leeds team had no less than two stands at the International Robotics Showcase on 21st June. The showcase was held as part of the International Business Festival at Exhibition Centre Liverpool which is located alongside the waterfront next to the River Mersey.

A team from Leeds' STORM Lab were exhibiting their latest work on robotic colonoscopy using a robot arm to magnetically manipulate a soft probe which has the potential to reduce pain and discomfort while allowing more detailed examination of the colon than is possible with current endoscopy technology. Meanwhile, a team from the Self-Repairing Cities project were showing off their latest research aimed at removing the disruption of roadworks through the use of robots to identify faults in infrastructure and repair them with minimal human effort in a safer, less disruptive manner.
